I would never do, never.
A million years ago, or at least it feels like that when really it was just six years, I worked at a summer camp in Nebraska. There I had my first serious crush, Andrew. I was apart of a summer support staff group. There were five of us in the group and he was the only guy. Two of the girls had boyfriends back home and as it always happens, Andrew liked the other girl. It never really seemed to matter much, we were all really close friends that summer. Just young, carefree, goof, and silly group of people. Also that summer I fell in love with Dashboard Confessional. By the end of that summer I knew two of their albums, A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar; and Places You Have Come to Fear the Most by heart.
Since then summer time and early fall has always brought me back to Dashboard. I’ve not listened to much of their new stuff, mostly because I’ve moved on to better music, but those two albums and all it holds for me will always be there. Surprisingly whatever I’m going through during those seasons brings me back to those albums.
The Country (Club) Life
Tonight I had a golf lesson! I am in the Profession Development class which is taught by the Dean of my college. The class helps you focus on your ultimate goal for the future and how to create a path to get there. Every semester he takes the class to the Country club for a golf lesson and dinner at the Club House afterwards. The point of doing this is because the people who belong to Country Clubs have (generally) a large amount of wealth. To work in an arts organization one day it would be beneficial to know the ways you can connect with people who can finically help your organization someday. I was beyond excited for tonight. I’ve always wanted to learn how to play golf. I’ve played, or tried my hand at every other sport but golf, so this was perfect opportunity.Of course I was terrible at first but then I got the hang of it. I completely understand how it can be very addictive. The more you hit, the more you want to get better at it.
In addition to the Dean, three other Arts Management professionals joined us for golf and dinner. It was a great night just to hear their stories and soak up their wisdom. Rather it was golf advice or life advice I took it all in. I felt like I as glowing by the end of the “class”. I really feel like I am supposed to be here in my life right now. I still feel pretty clueless about my life, and where I would like to end up but I know that I’m were I need to be to figure it out.
I am sorely behind in my reading already! I’m so tired now I know if I start to read I’ll just fall asleep. More to cram into for tomorrow!

Okay, today was a good day, didn’t even have to use my A.K.
Today was a good day. My Mom and I went to see the movie ” Julie & Julia” together. It was a good bonding moment; and also a really good movie. Meryl Streep was amazing as Julia Child. I remember watching her show on PBS when I was little. Maybe thats where my love of cooking started.
My Mom recently went back to Kansas to visit family and she brought back some old cameras from my grandparents. They’re all in mint condition, and have flashes with useable bulbs. Brownie Starflex, unfortunately this camera takes 127 film that no longer exsits. If I’m able to get a hold of another 127 size reel I’d like to try to cut down some 120 film to test it out.

Kodak Signet 40, this camera does take 35mm film and I’ve put a test roll in it. I can’t wait to see what they look like. The only thing is it lacks a light meter, so I’ll be using my hand held meter for the shots. Once I see how the Signet works I’m defiantly going to try out the flash too.
And heres a picture of the camera I’ve been using all summer. My friend ChrisJ. found it at a thrift store and gave it to me. I’ve put a gallery up on my website of the pictures from this camera. You can find them here!
New cameras always inspire me to shoot and I find myself falling in love with photography again. When I was in school I always thought of photography as my future, as a means for me to make a living doing something I really enjoyed. Then when I realized thats not what I wanted to do I stopped enjoying it, because it became a burden. Now it doesn’t feel that way, I find myself wanted to shoot. I need to learn to keep a camera on me always. I find things through out the day that just need to be documented.
I loved having my Ricoh on me all the time over the summer. I captured my summer fully, I don’t feel like anything was missed. I want to do that every day too. Something to work on!
I start school tomorrow. I am excited about starting classes and getting in the swing of things. After orientation this past week I am thrilled to start. I was sitting in orientation listening to the various professors talk about internship and job opportunities. It was a surreal experience because my undergraduate was very down about job possibilities. I left orientation elated, and filled with hope. Which is a very good thing.

Dinner Mission
I love to cook, bake and create. I really enjoy going to fine grocery stores and getting the inspiration to cook. Either by a wine, a side dish, or fresh vegetables. Tonight I chose to try lamb. I’ve been wanting to try my hand at lamb for quite some time but had never the chance. So today at Wegmans I picked up a half rack of seasoned lamb, along with a bunch of asparagus and a bottle of French wine.
I came home and started the grill for the lamb, and dressed the asparagus with olive oil, salt, pepper and a little cayenne pepper.

Then for dessert I sliced up a ripe nectarine and then drizzled the slices with honey, and brown sugar. Next I put the slices up the hot grill to cook. The smell of the nectarines cooking was exactly what I think of when someone says “summer”. I put the fruit on top of a few scoops of vanilla ice cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon. SO GOOD, made me breathless.

Success!
